Hostage in Manila

When two tourists are kidnapped in the Philippines, the State Department has no choice but to send firebrand Karla Lorenz, who has a tendency to go it alone - but at least she gets the job done, even if it means risking her own life...

Two German tourists disappear off the coast of the Philippines. A task force convenes in the State Department, led by Thomas Eick, who sends special envoy Karla Lorenz to Manila. Lorenz was assistant ambassador to Bahrain until recently, but was rotated out prematurely because she once again insisted on placing her own moral principles over her orders from the diplomatic corps. Now, her mission is to get in touch with former rebels and Philippino Minister of Defense Jejomar Maceda, with whom she had an affair years ago. Karla once again goes rogue to try and free the two tourists, which proves to be a dangerous assignment indeed. Karla is about to risk everything - even her own life.
