The Night Shift

It is rare for Chief Inspector Hanns von Meuffels to find himself in a world where death is more run-of-the-mill than in his own profession but here he is, in a retirement home where death is not always as a result of natural causes.

Chief Inspector Hanns von Meuffels is clocking off for a well-deserved evening at home, when octogenarian Elisabeth Strauß arrives into the station claiming to have witnessed a murder. Von Meuffels takes on the investigation, which brings him to a Munich retirement home with overworked care-workers and many patients in need of intensive care. The search for the truth proves to be a very difficult undertaking for von Meuffels and it does not escape him that the staff on duty on the night of the murder are clearly hiding something. It is the start of a night that he will not soon forget. He finds himself in a microcosm where death is more run-of-the-mill than in his own profession. He cannot avoid it, he wants to understand – until finally everything escalates …
