Ghosts

Günther Gaucke presents Falk Kupfer with a file stating that Hans Kupfer murdered a man named Mischa Liebermann in West Berlin for the Stasi a long time ago. Falk confronts his dad, but Hans claims the file is a forgery Gaucke wants to use against him. Falk gets the feeling Hans isn’t telling him the whole story, demanding Hans do what Gaucke wants, for the family’s sake. No matter whether the file is real or not, it could get Hans locked up. Dunja Hausmann, the only witness, has disappeared. Vera Kupfer is devastated by the dramatic losses for the civil rights movement in the elections. She accepts Bernd Krohnak’s job offer.

Roman Kupfer has earned the respect of a group of teens in a nighttime car race with East German Trabants. Hanging out with them, they get into a fight with a bunch of Turkish kids. Roman is injured. Vera and Falk visit their son in the hospital and find out Roman’s new friends are neo-Nazis. Hans Kupfer agrees to give Katja Wiese an interview – she’s planning a series of reports on important East German personalities. In the middle of her interview, Katja receives a call telling her which hotel in Milan Lisa is in. Martin and Katja decide to drive to Milan.
