Border Patrol: Motherly Love

The six-month-old baby, Leon Hallmann, is kidnapped from the pediatric ward of a hospital in Frankfurt (Oder). Profoundly worried, the baby’s parents Sabine and Robert Hallmann call the police. A few hours later, the baby is abandoned at a hospital in the town of Gorzów Wielkopolski, Poland. The kidnapper, identified as Pavel Rozanski, is found dead shortly thereafter. Chief Inspectors Olga Lenski and Adam Raczek stumble upon a complicated network of relationships around the kidnapped child. It soon becomes clear that little Leon was adopted by the Hallmanns. The birth mother, Anna Kovalska, lives with her husband Bartosz Kovalski – a truck driver – and daughter Halina in Poland, where she works in a children’s home. Robert Hallmann allegedly had an affair with Anna, and Leon is their son. Everything points to an unregistered adoption, but a new paternity test shows that neither Robert Hallmann nor Anna’s husband Bartosz are related to Leon. Unfortunately, Adam’s domestic life is anything but blissful at the moment. His wife, Lydia, would like to go back to work and move to a bigger city. But Adam thinks everything should stay the way it currently is. Lydia unceremoniously throws her intransigent husband out of their home…
