Border Patrol: Hilde's heritage

"Hilde's Legacy" sees the new rbb Border Patrol duo investigate together for the first time. Joining Adam Raczek is candidate detective Vincent Ross, a young man fresh from the academy, with his own world views and working style.

But even before his first day, he ends up in the thick of a murder investigation, when 22-year-old Bastian Grutzke is murdered in the apartment building in Slubice where Vincent lives. The same German student who had helped him move in just days previously. Adam Raczek, who is questioning witnesses at the scene of the crime, is astonished to find himself meeting his new colleague in these circumstances.

Evidence in the victim's apartment points to an argument relating to an escalating inheritance dispute within the Grutzke family.

Bastian's grandmother, Hilde Grutzke, the matriarch of the family, keeps a significant amount of cash in bags in her house and has taken to answering the door with a shotgun in hand. Her relationship with her family and, in particular, her son Ulf is strained and distant. She had had no contact whatsoever with her grandson Bastian until shortly before his death. Her granddaughter Emma had also cut herself off; the only person in the family she was close to was her brother. Hilde has a much better relationship with her caregiver Sandra Böttcher, who has been looking after the old lady for some time. Hilde suffers from COPD. Does the question as to who will inherit the old lady's money also solve the murder? Adam’s sleep disorder means that he is having difficulty concentrating and is not performing well, a fact that does not escape his new colleague, Vincent. And yet the complicated family situation increasingly engrosses the detectives and demands absolute teamwork from them both.
