The murder of meat magnate Merklinger leads Berlin homicide cops Ritter and Stark on the trail of crime and corruption in the bloody business of modern butchery...

Berlin meat-packing magnate Merklinger is found dead in the freezer of his factory. He had been missing for several days after his mistress Kathy reported him missing. When detectives Ritter and Stark arrive at the scene of the crime, no workers are in sight. Only the victim's son Maximilian is there, who treats the investigators with cold arrogance. He's in the middle of negotiations with the Ukrainian Litvin brothers, who want to invest in the company even though it was involved in a scandal with bad meat a few years ago. The homicide cops find out Merklinger has been emplyoing semi-legal Bulgarian workers, including the victim's girlfriend Liljana. When she tries to flee with her brother, Ritter gets beat up chasing them and winds up in the hospital with a concussion. Even though he's not supposed to strain his brain, it looks like he'll have to in order to solve this maze of corruption and crime in the meat-packing business...
