Guilt (3/11)

When cop Anna's sister wants to marry a former murder suspect in their rural village, Anna uses her modern police resources to run a gene test on the unsolved crime - which turns out positive.

Inspector Hanns von Meuffels, a city slicker from the North, winds up in deepest rural Bavaria with his new partner Anna - in the village she grew up in. There was a murder committed there many years ago, but the only suspect, Xaver Edlinger, got off for lack of evidence. Anna begins to have her doubts when her own sister wants to marry Xaver, and secretly uses her modern police resources to run a gene test on him. The test comes out positive, but it's no good as evidence in court, because Edlinger can't be tried twice for the same crime. But word gets out, and soon the village turns vigilante and assembles outside the killer's house with torches and pitchforks. Von Meuffels has to risk his own neck to protect the killer from his own neighbors?
