On the Run (2/3)

Brasch and Drexler must catch an unlikely murder suspect before an increasingly complex case takes the ultimate turn for the worst.

Can a social worker who lives only for his work and to help others be a murderer and hostage-taker? This is the question facing Brasch and Drexler in their new case. The body of a young man is found beaten to death in a Magdeburg tram. Danilo Rink was known to the police and already had a substantial criminal record. Brasch and Drexler therefore decide to bring social worker Peter Ruhler, who had been working with the young man for years, into the investigation. Initial inquiries reveal that Danilo Rink had violently threatened 15-year old Lukas Schenker on the tram. Only one man had tried to help the youth. All the other passengers had gotten off. To the inspectors' surprise, this man turns out to be Peter Ruhler, but before Brasch and Drexler can ask him about it, the social worker disappears taking the young boy with him. And so begins the hunt for suspected killer and kidnapper, Peter Ruhler. Brasch and Drexler ask themselves what could have happened to turn such a helpful and level-headed man like Ruhler into a killer and what his connection was with the 15-year old. But before they can put their questions to the man himself, there are more injured people and Ruhler appears to be increasingly entangled in events. Will Brasch and Drexler succeed in getting Peter Ruhler to hand himself in before the hunt ends badly?
