GLOBAL SCREEN racks up more major sales to France and Japan for its award-winning drama CRESCENDO#makemusicnotwar

Feb 13th, 2020

Global Screen has closed two more major deals for CRESCENDO#makemusicnotwar - with XXX for France and Shochiku for Japan, as well as an inflight distribution deal with Encore - after selling the rights to Menemsha Films for North America and Canada.

Julia Weber, Head of Acquisitions & Sales Theatrical International, declares: "We feel very fortunate to have such wonderful partners already onboard with so much passion for this remarkable drama which is making a contribution to global efforts for understanding, humanity and peace, and yet always staying realistic in spite of its ambitious message."

Additional deals were signed for Italy (Satine), Spain (Adso Films International Management), Korea (Tcast) and Taiwan (Swallow Wings Films).

CRESCENDO#makemusicnotwar by the Academy Award-nominated director Dror Zahavi (“Alexander Penn”, “Everything for my Father”) has already received numerous awards, including the “Rheingold” Audience Award at the 15th Festival of German Cinema in Ludwigshafen am Rhein and the Audience Award at Warsaw Jewish Film Festival.

Loosely inspired on Daniel Barenboim’s West-Eastern Divan Orchestra, this gripping drama is staged as a constantly growing ‘crescendo’, rising the tension and conflicts until the very last frame. Lead actor Peter Simonischek (“Toni Erdmann”) stars opposite a highly convincing line-up of up-and-coming actors including Daniel Donskoy (“Victoria”) and Sabrina Amali (“4 Blocks”).

When the world-famous conductor Eduard Sporck (Peter Simonischek) accepts the job to create an Israeli-Palestinian youth orchestra, he is quickly drawn into a tempest of seemingly unsolvable problems. Having grown up in a state of war, suppression or the constant risk of terrorist attacks, the young musicians from both sides are far from capable of forming a team. Will Sporck succeed in making the young people forget their hatred, at least for the three weeks until the concert?

CRESCENDO#makemusicnotwar has been produced by CCC Filmkunst (Alice Brauner) as a co-production with ServusTV (Frank Holderied), Munich-based MZ-Film (Michael Zechbauer), Filmvergnuegen from South Tyrol (Peter Trenkwalder, Monika Reinthaler), AVE Publishing (M. Walid Nakschbandi) and Niama-Film (Thomas Reisser, Marcus Machura).
